Team Onsites in the Time of COVID

As COVID vaccines continue to get manufactured and distributed at a rapid-fire pace, we’re starting to see the dawn of a new day. Is the “new normal” we’ve all been waiting for finally on the horizon?

Here at Apprentice, we’re proud to say that we’ve helped to produce 370 million COVID vaccines and counting. It’s a big part of why we’re so excited to come into work every day.

One of the many silver linings of the big push for vaccination: We’re seeing a rise in departments planning safe and healthy onsites for their teams!

This past week, the Marketing Team traveled to Jersey City for our first onsite of the new year! Hailing from all over the Northern Hemisphere, it was nice to have our four different time zones finally all synced up for once.

The value of in-person connections

The world’s adapted to remote work distribution, and we’re here for it. Lower carbon footprint, 15-second commutes, all-day pajamas… What’s not to love?

Still, there’s nothing like an in-person group brainstorm to let you know what you’ve been missing. Getting to mind-meld with a likeminded group of people in real time and space is one of the highlights of onsite office life.

Closing Thoughts: Making Space for Real Life

These days, in-person connections can feel bittersweet. Exhilarating in the moment... but those moments end all too soon.

Still, there's no denying the long-term impact of short-term onsites. Once you meet the person behind the screen, you can't go back to not knowing them in a deeper dimension. And the value those insights bring to teamwork, collaboration, and quality of life is priceless.

That's why we make it a point to plan departmental offsites here at Apprentice, as logistics and personal comfort levels allow. When our people want to meet, we find a way to make it happen.
